- etc.
Are requesting payment via one of these scam Cash-Transfer Apps.
International Fraud Awareness Week: Scam Using Cash-Transfer Apps
If a Metro Credit Union member falls for these scams, sends payment via a scam Cash-Transfer Apps, and then doesn’t get their product, we have no ability to get their money back for them. This is because we cannot hold CashApp, Venmo, etc. liable for non-receipt of goods. The only service cash-transfer apps provide is moving cash from one account to another.
Never use Service to Purchase Products
Members should only use these cash-transfer services to send money to people they know and/or trust, because Metro has no way to dispute these transactions, if they were initiated by our member. They should never use these services to purchase products or services, unless these exchanges are being made in person. Examples would be purchasing merchandise from a band at a concert, or purchasing items while at a trade/craft show. If information is used through the Mobile Wallet, you can make purchases, pay and manage your money whenever and however you need it.
